Happy Holidays & 2008's Holiday Spending Stats! Overview of this week's e-Newsletter Happy holidays, and for those of you that celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas! This week I thought it would be interesting to send you some statics on this year's holiday spending online verse last year's.
Online Holiday Spending Is Up Compared To 2007! This year's holiday spending is up verses last years. Surprisingly with all the media hype about the economy, online holiday spending is actually greater than the past year (according to comScore.com). In fact it's about 9% higher than last year, with $102.15 billion dollars spend so far this year and $93.60 spent at this time in 2007. Here is a graph depicting holiday spending from 2007 to 2008. There are also some other interesting trends in how customers where referred to e-commerce type websites for this holiday season. It appears that over half of all refers to websites for this holiday season came from search engines alone then followed by other categories, e-mail, comparison shopping, and lastly coupons.
